2007 Spring Classes
 

Beginning Knitting:
Cost $40 - (includes needles & yarn for dishcloth)
This series of three classes will introduce you to knitting fundamentals; cast-on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, ribbing, cast-off, gauge, and basic pattern reading. You will complete a dishcloth by the end of class.

Sept. 9, 16, 23 at 9am - 10:30am or Sept. 13, 20, 27 at 8am - 9:30am
Oct. 7, 14, 21 at 9am - 10:30am or Oct. 4, 11, 18 at 8am - 9:30am
Nov. 4, 11, 18 at 9am - 10:30am or Nov. 8, 15, 22 at 8am - 9:30am
Dec. 2, 9, 16 at 9am - 10:30am or Dec. 6, 13, 20 at 8am - 9:30am

Personalized Knitting:
Cost $25/hour

This class is designed for people that need personalized attention beginning or finishing a project. Call to schedule a time and let us know what you would like to focus on (ie, gauge, pattern reading, picking up stitches, seaming, etc).

Basic Sock: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $15/session or $35 for all 3 sessions - (plus materials)
This series of three classes is designed to be a knit-along or you can take the section that is giving you trouble in creating your handmade socks. With all of the amazing sock yarns available, we all can be knitting socks! Children's or adult socks may be knit.

Sept. 9 at 2pm - 3:30pm; Beginning socks on double-point needles; knitting the cuff
Sept. 30 at 2pm-3:30pm; Turning the heel and picking up stitches for the gusset
Oct. 14 at 2pm - 3:30pm; Shaping the toe and the Kitchener stitch

Cost $30 - (plus materials with pattern included)
Learn to knit the most admired accessory in our shop! This scarf is done using only the knit stitch, but you will cast on with your beads. Once you learn the technique, you will be on your way to creating beautiful gifts.

Wonderful Wallaby: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $50 - (plus materials)

We have scheduled a knit-along for this very popular hooded sweater for all ages. This over-sized hoodie is knit in the round from the bottom up so there is very little seaming involved. The pattern is sized from 2 (toddler) all the way to adult super-sized, so you can decide who to knit for and have it done in time for the holidays! There is homework involved and the Knit-Alongs are included in your class fee.

Pumpkin Baby Hat: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $40 - (includes pattern and yarn)

Knit this adorable hat in warm, washable wool for fall. You will learn to knit in the round, change yarn colors (without leaving a hole!), decrease onto double-point needles, and knit an I-cord top. Homework involved.

Lizard Ridge Pillow: ~ Click To View ~

Add some color to your life! In this intermediate level class participants will make a pillow by using a short row technique that forms a "lizard ridge".

Sept. 27 at 10am - 1pm

Beginning Crochet:
Cost $40 - (includes crochet hook and yarn for dishcloth)
This series of three classes will introduce you to crochet fundamentals and stitches including chaining; single, double and half double crochet; increasing; decreasing; and, if time permits, a basic granny square.

Oct. 1, 8, 15 at 3:30pm - 5pm

Inside-Outside Scarf: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $50 - (includes pattern and 2 Skein Noro Kureyon)
This scarf is an easy introduction to the Knit One Below stitch. K1b stitch mixes colors by creating columns of color on one side of the fabric and a pretty mix on the other, all by working with just one yarn color per row! You only need to know how to knit and purl to create this scarf.

Oct. 7 at 2pm - 3:30pm

Toe-Up Socks:
Cost $45 - (pattern included)
Come explore knitting a women's sock from the toe up on two circular needles. These socks are knit with sport weight yarn to explore the different techniques that play with the toe up.

Oct. 11 at 10am - 2pm

Basic Stranding: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $45 - (includes pattern and yarn)
This class will teach you how to knit with two colors holding one color in each hand and how to "trap" the carried color. You will learn how to read a color chart. Students should be able to cast-on and knit in the round using circular and double point needles.

Garter Stitch Baby Cardigan: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $35 - (plus materials)
This is the perfect project for anyone wanting to simply knit their first sweater(no purling required). You will learn to read a pattern, seam your garment, and make buttonholes. This two-session class makes a special baby gift.

Oct. 21 and Nov. 4 at 2pm - 3:30pm

Intermediate Crochet:
Cost $35 - (plus materials for a project of your choice)
This will take you beyond beginner status - you will learn to read patterns and begin a more detailed project of your choice.

Oct. 22, 29, and Nov. 5 at 3:30pm - 5pm

Bulky Shrug: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $45 - (plus materials)

This woman's shrug is knitted with super bulky yarn from the top down, and yes, it is very fast! An adorable holiday gift.

Nov. 8 at 10am - 2pm

Big Wool Mittens on 2 Circs:
Cost $45 - (plus materials)
Mittens are as much fun to make as they are to wear, and those store bought ones just aren't ever toasty and warm! We get you started on your first mitten in class and you make the second one at home. Participants will incorporate 2 circular needles to make their mittens.

Beginner Lace Knitting: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $40 - (pattern included)

We all admire lace knitting, but many feel intimidated by a large project. These lace cloths are quick and easy to knit. The lace pattern creates the shaping, so they are interesting little projects. They make a terrific gift with a special bar of soap or a Thanksgiving hostess gift.

Nov. 11 at 2pm - 5pm

Intermediate Stranding:
Cost $65 - (includes pattern and yarn - your color choice)

We've all admired the beautiful color work in Nordic sweaters, now you can learn this technique on a Dale of Norway pillow. This class is NOT a beginner stranding class, so please be familiar with knitting two yarns in one row. More intricate color work and chart reading will be taught in this class.

Nov. 15 at 10am - 1pm

Sea Lettuce Scarf: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $ 35 - (plus materials)

You will learn the short row technique showcasing hand painted sock yarns, as well as knitting back without turning the work. A beautiful and fun scarf to complete.

Dec. 6 at 10am - 1pm

Double-Knitting:
Cost $25 - (includes pattern and yarn)

You can learn the technique of double-knitting (creating two layers of knitting at the same time) while you complete a quick, adorable cell phone/MP3 pouch, for yourself or a friend! Once you learn this technique, there are many knit fabrics that you can create.

Dec. 13 at 10am - 2pm

Raggedy Raglan Sweater: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $35 - (pattern included)

This two-session, quick project is knit in the round from the top down (virtually no seaming) in a chunky yarn with simple, crochet trim. This all translates into a great gift!

Jan. 6 and Jan. 27 at 2pm - 3:30pm

EZ Spiral Yoke Sweater: ~ Click To View ~
Cost $60 - (plus materials)

This timeless beauty from Elizabeth Zimmermann is deceptively simple; knit entirely in the round from the top down. This is a percentage system sweater (choose any yarn and using a mathematical formula, we will help you determine how many stitches to cast on). To keep you going, we have scheduled this class as a knit-along. Join in the fun and create a beautiful, custom fit sweater. This is an intermediate level class.

Jan. 6, 20, and Feb. 3 at 5pm - 8pm

Private Classes:
Available upon request for the cost of $25 per hour. Must be scheduled in advance.
