2009 Fall-Winter Classes
     

Beginning Knitting:
First session free with the purchase of yarn and needles (limit of 6 people per session).
Learn the long tail cast on and the knit stitch. Must be scheduled prior to the first date of each session below.

Knitting 102:
Cost $30 (second two dates of session)
(the following two classes) will introduce you to knitting fundamentals; purl, increase, decrease, ribbing, cast-off, gauge, and basic pattern reading. You will complete a dishcloth by the end of class.

Personalized Knitting:
Cost $25/hour

This class is designed for people that need personalized attention beginning or finishing a project. Call to schedule a time and let us know what you would like to focus on (i.e., gauge, pattern reading, picking up stitches, seaming, etc).

Beginning Crochet:
Cost $40
This series of three classes will introduce you to crochet fundamentals and stitches. Class includes 1 skein of Cotton Rich and crochet hook. If you are interested in a daytime class, please call us to set up.

Garter Toe Up Sock:
Cost $ 40 plus materials
Come explore knitting a women's sock from the toe up either on double point needles or two circular needles. These socks are knit with sport weight yarn to learn the different techniques that play with the toe up. Pattern provided.

Saturday, September 19, 10am-2pm

Beginner Lace Scarf: ~ Click to View ~
Free with kit ($16.50)
This lovely lace scarf is the perfect way to expand your scarf-knitting horizons. The repeat is only 6 rows-and all of the even rows are simply purled! Pattern available only for students. Kit includes two skeins of Baby Llama yarn.

Cost $35 plus materials
Impress your friends and family with this fair isle/cable scarf. Once you get going, it knits up quickly and would make a great holiday gift. Techniques used in this pattern are knit, purl, cable cast on, fair isle knitting and cables. Frog Tree Merino Melange is wonderful to knit with and it makes a warm and very soft scarf.

Wrap Me Up Knit Along: ~ Click to View ~
Cost $60 or $15 per session
A modular sampler wrap that's over-the-top in color and texture - as much fun to make as it is to wear. Choose a worsted weight, self-striping yarn like Kureyon or Silk Garden (Noro), or one of the other amazing handpaints. The group will work through the different squares of this amazing wrap in 5 class sessions. If you were nervous to finish this beautiful wrap, join the group for inspiration to finish!

Crochet Edgings:

Cost $25 plus materials
This is a great class for knitters who would like to learn to crochet edgings on their garments or afghans Basic crochet skill are necessary. Homework required.

These loafers are a fun interpretation of a traditional loafer. Knit in Malabrigo yarn (so soft ....wearing these loafers is like walking in a cloud), these slippers will be much loved by the wearer. Kit includes 2 skeins Malabrigo and pattern. Homework: knit one sole complete.

This is the hat that all the teenagers are wearing. The flaps are knit first, stitches are cast on, then all is joined in the round. Kit includes 1 skein Noro’s Bonbori and Knitting Pure & Simple pattern.

Double Knit (Double Thick) Mittens:
Cost: $40 (includes pattern) plus materials
Learn a new technique of double knitting-knitting both sides at the same time. These mittens turn out doubly thick and very warm for our cold winter months. Homework required.

Come and learn how to make these adorable mittens for those little ones in your life. These are great for Christmas Gifts, so why not start early!

Saturday, October 17; 10am-2pm

Basic Cardigan Vest for Women: ~ Click to View ~
Cost $15 plus kit ($46 to $79)
First session will establish your gauge swatch and get you started on the body of the vest. Second session will have you dividing at the armholes and we’ll learn the neck shaping techniques. Finally you’ll be back to join your shoulders and pick up stitches for the neck and front! Just like that you will have knit yourself a beautiful vest and your first sweater will be complete! Kit includes pattern and Silky Flamme yarn.

Tuesdays, October 20, November 3 & 17, 6-8pm

Magic Loop:
Cost $40 plus materials
Its time to learn how to knit in the round on ONE circular needle. That's right. One. Magic Loop is the key to a new generation of circular knitting, particularly for socks. You will learn all of the techniques needed to understand how to knit small circumferences on one circular needle. This is a must learn technique!

This hat is knit in the round with heavy worsted wool and is great for men or women. The stretchy rib pattern allows for a flexible fit. Kit includes 2 skeins of Mirasol Project’s Miski yarn and Spiral Rib Hat pattern.

Fair Isle Fingerless Mitten:
Cost $40 plus materials
Come learn the great skill of Fair Isle or if you know it, come see the unique incorporation into a fingerless mitten. Fair Isle is the art of working with 2 colors, holding 1 yarn in the right hand and one in the left.

Learn how to add double thickness to your mitten, by knitting one mitten, and knitting a second into the first. These mittens are great for gifts for the Holidays!

Socks for the Multi Needle Phobic: ~ Click to View ~
Free with kit ($21.75)
You aren’t alone in wanting to knit socks but can’t bear the thought of struggling with all of those double-point needles! After all, socks are all the rage and there are so many great yarns available. There is an easier way – in the round with a 9” circular needle! You will still need the double points for the toes, but you’ll be comfortable by then. Kit includes 100 grams of sock yarn and size 1 or 2 9” circular needle and double points. Homework involved – kit the cuff and heal flap prior to class.

Mitered Mitten: ~ Click to View ~
Cost: Free with kit ($30.45)
Elizabeth Zimmerman has “unvented” the traditional mitten pattern. All the shaping is done using miters. This mitten is surprisingly easy to knit and fits well. Mitten is knit using 5 double pointed needles. Must be comfortable knitting with double pointed needles. Kit includes 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden and Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Knitter’s Almanac.
